This
travel map centres on Phuket, Thailand's largest island and world
famous beach destination, but is based upon a map of the whole of
Southern Thailand which is covered at a scale of 1:1,200,000. All
major travel routes are illustrated and national parks are clearly
marked with an indication given to topography. In addition to the
map of Phuket which is at the scale of 1: 140,000, there are also
maps of Ko Phi Phi and Krabi at the same scale. Street plans of
Bangtao-Pansea-Kamala beaches, Kata-Karon beaches, Phuket, Krabi
and Ranong are provided with key buildings and places of interest
pinpointed as well as where to stay. Distance and climate charts
are useful additions when planning journeys both before arriving
in Thailand and during ones stay and all ferry routes to and from
the island are clearly indicated. Additionally, some holiday information
and language tips relating totravel are given along with a few photos
of the area.
The map of Phuket
shows all the main roads and most of the minor ones too, allowing
one to navigate around the backwaters of the island with ease. I
have used this map whilst touring around the island by motorcycle
and it was adequate, although at times I had to use my intuition.
All the minor islands and beaches are mapped, giving the user an
insight into how many untouristed areas there are on Phuket, and
many of these are worth visiting; it is surprisingly easy to get
away from the crowds and find some places where birds can be found. |
