Field Check-List of Thai Birds by Philip D. Round

This useful little book is exactly what its title suggests: a checklist of the birds of Thailand. All additions to the Thai list up to the date of publication are included, with space for further additions to be written in at the back. Conservation status is given for each species together with a reference to the species number given in the original Lekagul and Round book which is useful, especially where name changes and/or splits are concerned.

This publication is in both English and Thai, something which may encourage Thais to participate in bird watching and conservation activities and also allow the visiting birder to interact with the locals.

There is space for up to six different lists to be created by the user in this hand-sized book which slips nicely into a pocket, allowing it to be used in the field without taking up much space. The only problem that I have encountered is that the cover fell off of mine after about one week.

The Bird Conservation Society of Thailand sells copies of this publication and the proceeds will go towards their ever-increasing conservation work. E-mail them at bcst@bcst.or.th
