2006 Raptor Watch "A Success"
A total
of 56,988 migating raptors were counted over the
weekend of 30th September to 1st October. Nine
species of migratory raptors were identified:
Chinese Sparrowhawk, Japanese Sparrowhawk, Oriental
Honey Buzzard, Osprey, Black Kite, Eastern Marsh
Harrie, Pied Harrier, Common Buzzard, Peregrine

Raptor Watch Festival & Weekend Hawkwatch
This autumn the Thai Raptor Group
are holding two raptor watch activities to observe
the southerly migration of raptors as they come
through the Isthmus of Kra bottleneck:

Thayang Municipal Adminitration, Chumporn Province
and Thai Raptor Group (TRG) are the joint co-ordinators
of the 2006 Thailand Raptor Watch Festival,
to be held on the weekend of September 30 -
October 1 in Chumporn Province, southern Thailand.
The count will continue throughout the whole
of October led by the principal counter, Mr.
Chukiart Nualsri. Birders who are interested
in the raptor watch at the Chumporn site are
encouraged to join and may contact Mr. Chukiart
at bntern@yahoo.com.

- The
Thailand Weekend Hawkwatch at Radar Hill, Prachuab
Kirikhun Province, will be a weekly raptor watch
and count which will take place on the weekends
from September 23 to October 31, except on the
weekend of Raptor Watch Festival; the weekend
hawkwatch will be organized for October 2-3
that week so that the two events do not clash.
