: A trip out into the mangroves at Krabi revealed numerous
Brown-winged Kingfishers and a calling Mangrove Pitta. An unseasonal
trip out to the river mouth turned up some late-departing waders;
20 Whimbrel and 5 Common Redshank. All these sightings were made
on the 30th May.
On the 12th
May a Hooded Pitta was seen well on the trail between Pha GLuai
Mai campsite and Haew Suwat, Khao Yai.

:
A Common Buzzard was seen flying over the Chao Fha City development
site on Phuket on the 29th May. A pair of Barn Owls were seen hunting
at Sapan Hin, also on Phuket, in the evening.

: Up to five Grass Owls were present at the site near Chiang
Saen on the 27th May and the River Tern was seen again on the 25th.
It is also reported that a flock of about 40 Plain Martins was present
in the region for about 2 weeks in mid May.

: At least 3 fledged Grass Owls have been regularly seen
close to Chiang Saen and on the 24th May a further 2 or possibly
3 pairs were located. On the same day a sub adult River Tern was
photographed on wetlands near Chiang Saen. Additionally, an Oriental
Pratincole and 10 Whiskered Terns were seen.

: Some very late, but notable sightings from Khao Yai National
Park on 26th January 2007 were a Jerdon's Baza, 2 White-throated
Needletails, an Imperial Eagle, an Oriental Hobby and 2 White-bellied
Green Pigeons. - Pam Piombino
22/05/07
: Two Chestnut-winged Cuckoos turned
up in a patch of woodland at Huay Tung Tao on the 19th May. A few
winter migrants were still passing through the site with 1 Barn
Swallow and 1 Moorhen on the 18th, 2 Olive-backed Pipits on the
19th and a single Barn Swallow on the 21st.

: A Blue-winged Pitta was found calling from a wooded area
a little south of Patong beach on the 16th May.

Two Rufous Woodpeckers,
a Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker and a pair of Painted Snipe were all
seen at Huay Tung Tao, Chiang Mai, on the 14th May.

: Newly published Recent Reports from January 2007 to April
2007 (BCST Bull. Vol 24, no. 2) are now online on the Bird
Conservation Society of Thailand's website. Several
seabirds were amongst the highlights with a Lesser Frigatebird at
Bang Poo, Samut Prakarn, on the 19th February and a cruise off the
coast of Trang produced a Brown Booby, 2 Lesser Frigatebirds and
2 Long-tailed Jaegers (Skuas) on the 28th March. Other scarce birds
were a Great Bittern near Petchaburi on the 20th April, juvenile
Steppe and Imperial Eagles along with a Western Marsh Harrier at
Ban Thung Sawang, Nakhon Sawan, on 4th March.
A Japanese Paradise-flycatcher
was seen and photographed in mangroves at Tambon Samet, Chonburi
on 22nd April but this was surpassed by a Spotted Wren Babbler which
was both seen and heard singing at 1800 m on Doi Lang on 21st March;
another addition to the growing
Thailand List. - See BCST

A couple of
interesting species have been found nesting around Chiang Saen:
Besra and Savanna Nightjar. Two immature Painted Storks were seen
near Mae Sai on the 23rd April and it is interesting to note that
virtually all buntings had departed by the 12th April.

: A few late departing migrants were seen at Huay Tung
Tao on the 4th May: 1 Barn Swallow, 2 Thick-billed Warblers, 1 Brown
Shrike and 3 Chinese Pond Herons.
