Like
something from a Disney cartoon, the striking colours of Long-tailed
Broadbill can hardly fail to impress as one flicks through
Robson's
Field Guide to the Birds of Thailand or Lekagul
& Round's Guide to the Birds of Thailand
in preparation for ones first birding trip to Thailand.
Most birders
with Long-tailed Broadbill on their target list won't be disappointed
as it is certainly the most common bird amongst the top ten
most wanted birds of Thailand. Fairly common in broadleaved
evergreen forest in much of Thailand, Long-tailed Broadbill
often travels in small flocks, but can be rather shy. However,
such is the range and abundance of this species that any birders
including the ever popular national parks of Kaeng
Krachan, Khao
Yai, Doi
Inthanon, Doi
Chiang Dao and Doi
Ang Kang will almost certainly be treated to
at least one sighting of Long-tailed Broadbill. |
